Cubs

Being a Cub is all about growing and learning in small but mighty ways.

Cubs is one of the two original sections that began in 1916 by baden Powell himself. In 2023 there were 142,273 Cub Scouts across the UK showing the sustained growth whilst also managing to achieve the following:

  • Master new skills and try new things
  • Have fun and go on adventures
  • Make friends
  • Are curious about the world around them
  • Help others and make a difference, in their own communities and beyond

You will get a chance to try lots of different activities like swimming, music, exploring, computing and collecting – if you do them well you can get a badge which you can wear on your uniform

Cub Scouts also get to go on trips and days out to places like the zoo, theme parks or a farm – you’ll also get to go camping with the rest of your Pack – this will mean sleeping in a tent and doing loads of outdoor activities

The best part of Scouting is definitely the camps. I love every activity we do apart from swimming. They told us the pool was 24 degrees centigrade. Minus 24 more like!”
